Why Sambo Port St Lucie?
Understanding the Roots
Sambo, short for “SAMozashchita Bez Oruzhiya” meaning “self-defense without weapons” in Russian, is a combat sport and martial art that originated in the Soviet Union. Developed in the early 1920s by the Red Army, Sambo combines elements of various martial arts such as judo, wrestling, and striking techniques from other styles and much more. It emphasizes both standing and ground-based combat, making it a well-rounded and versatile fighting style.
Evolution and Global Recognition
Over the years, Sambo has evolved into different styles, with Combat Sambo gaining significant popularity worldwide and dominating the MMA world with fighters like Khabib Nurmagomedov, Fedor Emelianenko and Islam makhachev. At Sambo Port St Lucie we incorporate both sportive aspects and realistic self-defense techniques, making it suitable for competition as well as real-life situations.
